ming makes cupcakes

Grannie's ginger cookies with lemon cream filling by ming makes cupcakes are, in my sister's words, 'the best cookie I have ever eaten in my life.' I am quite the cookie maker (they're easier than cupcakes and almost always edible no matter how they look!) and this is going to be my new core recipe. Chewy but with a grainy sugary crunch, soft but not crumbly, sweet but with a hint of spice. Just the best.

things in threes

I just made some new necklaces for the tfortexas shop. Everything seemed to come to me in threes. I love these because I've spent so long looking for beads I like. These are all from various sources, mostly vintage. I can make a few of each but they have a one-off kind of charm that I think makes them special.

I could not be more excited that Caitlin Mociun has started a new blog. I always wished she had one, so i could get just a little bit more mociun.

This beauty is growing in my neighbour's garden but leans over the fence just enough for me to consider it my own...

a new necklace...

I keep coming across great vintage findings and I can't resist them. I bought a few of these vintage coils which I've used as pendants on a braided chain. They have a slight patina and look kind of salvaged but I've domesticated them a bit with the pretty thread. Available in the tfortexas shop.

flowers for the weekend

every friday I buy a bunch of flowers from one the high street vendors in town. these are the first peonies I have seen this year so I immediately bought them and then had to carry them shopping, to a movie and dinner so they got a little beaten up.
The freesias I bought on a whim during the week. The bluebells came from the garden. They smell just like hyacinths and are so delicately and perfectly formed.

shabd and mociun

I can't believe I missed this shabd-mociun collaboration earlier this year. Tie dye has never looked better. I so want those shabd summerstorm leggings. Sigh.

lulu jewellery

Necklaces by lulu. That blackbird is awesome. I'm really getting into blackbirds lately. We have a couple who visit our garden everyday and though they're not the prettiest birds, they always seem cheerful and have a song for us. They don't battle the other little birds for space on the bird table but are happy to eat from the path. We put down museli just for them so they keep coming back.
